When does the tax year start in Spain?▼
Spain's tax year matches the calendar year (1 January - 31 December). Tax returns are generally filed between April and June of the following year.
Does having an NIE number alone make me a tax resident?▼
No. The NIE is only an identification number. To become a tax resident you must spend more than 183 days a year in Spain, or have your centre of life located here.
